I’ve been seeing a lot of cute little bird illustrations everywhere, and thinking to myself that I would never make something like them, which of course spurs me on to do it anyways.
I drew up a little valentine .pdf to send to my friends and co-workers, with a kissing birdies theme.
I tried to go for rough, organic and trendy, but it came off hippy-dippy and groovy (I think there’s some acsociation with birds and the partridge family in my head) so I decided to go with it.
I threw in text using a great typeface I found somewhere “blackcurrant cameo”. It reminds me of funky sixties poster design for things like la dolce vita, or of course, the partridge family. It’s so rare to find great typefaces online, I forgive it for being such an outrageous novelty font.
