worry
Kaylee’s sick.
She has fluid in her lungs. They don’t know what caused it, and since she’s a cat, they probably won’t ever know. The fluid they found was white, not clear, which means she has a rare disease (chylothorax) that is largely incurable.
We spent all Friday at the vet. They drained her lungs. She has little fuzzy shaved patches on her sides. Maybe we should start calling her Britney (it would raise our spirits, if not hers).
They will probably have to drain her lungs again. And again. And again.
We’re trying this herbal remedy (rutin) right now that is the only thing that may help, but again, they don’t really know.
She’s breathing fairly normally at the moment, and she’s been running around and playing a bit. No choking noises (which I now know mean she is drowning on the inside - not just a hairball). Which is a good sign. She’s skinny though.
She’s been a brave little girl. All the vets talked about how sweet she was.

Hi Beth
This is quite the coincidence, I work at a vitamin store, and a woman was telling me on Friday about how she is using rutin to help her dog who has an infection. A vet told her to use it, and she’s going to let me know how it is continuing to work. She said she thought it had helped already. I just wanted to maybe help second your opinion on that one. Rutin can help bring down inflammation and is good antioxidant. The brand Natural Factors has one that’s a strong dosage and they’re good quality. I help it helps her, sweet kitty.

poor sweetie! she looks just like my Archie (who also has neverending heart issues). I hope they can find something that makes her more comfortable :(

Dear Kaylee,
Please get better. I’ve only met you once, and it’d be a shame if I didn’t get to meet you again.
Love,
Joe

Whenever you get back to blogging land, you should add my NEW livejournal: mmmbamboo. I thought I quit forever, but I am back, with my tail between my legs.
